The sixth graders at WCASS took off early Thursday morning for their annual capitol field trip.  The sixth graders have been busy studying Minnesota history throughout the school year and Thursday's field trip brought this learning to life for the students.  They began with a tour of Historic Fort Snelling, witnessing living history reenactments, seeing where Colonel Snelling lived while at the fort and climbing the fort's tower.  Next, they got to tour the James J Hill house, an 1891 mansion on Summit Avenue built by railroad magnate James J. Hill.  A sixth grader said, "We got to see a now billionaire's house."  They finished the day viewing the beautiful Minnesota state capitol in St. Paul and witnessing government at work.  They got to see where senators and representatives work on bills that could become laws.   "The best part of the trip were the golden horses at the top."
