Students from West Central Area Secondary School attended the Minnesota Family, Career, and Community Leaders of America (FCCLA) November Summit in Saint Cloud from November 4-5. Members attended workshops on FACTS (Families Acting For Community Traffic Safety), Financial Fitness, and Community Service. They also had the chance to attend STAR Event workshops to work on and begin their STAR (Students Taking Action for Recognition) Events. The state officers presented information with fun and engaging skits throughout the conference on the State Theme, "Land of 10,000 Dreams" and upcoming opportunities. On Sunday night, members participated in an Etiquette Dinner where they learned the proper etiquette for enhancing their employability skills. Former National FCCLA Leadership trainer Morgan Croft Schornak worked with members on peer to peer education through engaging activities. One highlight of the Summit was when members got the chance to work together to create short commercials about the state theme for the year. Former Texas FCCLA State Advisor Sharon Pierce presented on the FCCLA National Program STOP the violence. Sharon Pierce educated members about preventing bullying, recognizing warning signs and reducing school violence and what they can do to help.

MN FCCLA November Summit was a great opportunity for all members who attended. Members were able to learn about the opportunities for them this year and the steps they can take to make sure their chapter has a successful year. FCCLA is the ultimate leadership experience and this event was the perfect opportunity for members to gain the skills necessary to become a leader of the future.

Minnesota FCCLA is a dynamic and effective student organization that helps young men and women to become leaders and address important personal, family, work, and societal issues through family and consumer sciences education.
